Jennifer receives first prize for best oral presentation!

At the 20th edition of the Young Belgian Magnetic Resonance Symposium, Jennifer was awarded first prize for the best oral presentation. Her talk featured an in-depth 2D HETCOR study on the influence of water on the chemical shift in 31P ssNMR of NU-1000 post-synthetically modified with phenylphosphonic acid.

Congratulations Jennifer!

Jorid successfully defends his Ph.D.!

Jorid was awarded his Ph.D. after successfully completing the public defense of his thesis. During his Ph.D., he developed new MOF film deposition processes compatible with microfabrication methods and investigated new approaches for volatile acid detection.

Congratulations Dr. Smets!

Nassos joins the group!

We are pleased to welcome a new postdoc to our group!

After his doctoral studies on the development of MOF adsorbents for CO2 capture, Nassos conducted postdoctoral research at TU-Dortmund on the formulation of MOF particles into porous liquids.

At Ameloot group, he will study multicomponent gas adsorption equilibria and kinetics by nanoporous materials.

A warm welcome to Nassos!

Five MSc students strengthen our group this academic year!

One chemical and five bioscience engineering students strengthen the team this year and will conduct their Master's thesis research under the supervision of Prof. Ameloot!

We wish (L-R) Noa, Maarten, Manu, Luca, Bram and Tine a warm welcome and an interesting research year!

Bram, Manu and Tine will be working with MOFs, ranging from their synthesis to MOF-based sensing applications. Noa will focus on 3D printed medicines, and Maarten and Luca will work on recycling plastics and textiles!

Robbe joins the group!

We are pleased to welcome a new PhD student to our group!

After doing his honours program and master thesis at the Ameloot group, Robbe now joins the group as A PhD student, continuing his work on the developement of a novel technique for measuring multicomponent adsorption and diffusion in nanoporous materials.

A warm welcome to Robbe!

Lore successfully defends her Ph.D.!

After successfully completing the public defense of her thesis, Lore was awarded her Ph.D.! Her Ph.D. research focused on 3D printed power sources for point-of-care diagnostics.

Congratulations Dr. Van Looy!

Sebastián joins the group!

After finishing his PhD in Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials at Basque country university and Borealis in a Marie Curie industrial framework, Sebastian started a Postdoc position at KU Leuven in recycling plastics.

In the Ameloot group, he will continue his research on the characterization and sorting of alternatives to recycling black plastics.

A warm welcome to Sebastián!

Aleksandra joins the group!

After finishing her M.Sc. in Photonics at the Warsaw University of Technology, Aleksandra started a joint PhD between TU Dublin and KU Leuven as a part of the MSCA SENNET Project - Porous Networks for Gas Sensing.

In the Ameloot group, she will continue her research on the development of optical microstructures functionalised with MOFs for the detection of volatile organic compounds.

Giel's research in the spotlight @Bio-ingenieus
Lotte joins the group!

We are pleased to welcome a new PhD student to the Ameloot group!

After her Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Lotte graduated as a Master in Drug Development. During her Master’s thesis, she investigated formulation screening and Fused Deposition 3D printing of ASD tablets.

In the Ameloot group, her research will be focused on 3D printed gastroretentive dosage forms for timed multidrug release.

A warm welcome to Lotte!
