Manipulating Porous Matter
Selective gas detection
via kinetic separations
at the nanoscale
The selective detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is crucial for health, safety and environmental monitoring. Yet, current sensors cannot reliably distinguish between target VOCs in these complex atmospheres.
Kinetic Selectivity Sensing is a breakthrough technology platform developed by the Ameloot group. Via an efficient industry-compatible architecture, kinetic selectivity in nanoporous crystals can be fully leveraged in a miniaturized chemical sensor. Similar molecules can travel orders of magnitude slower or faster in a nanoscale matrix, leading to reliable and selective detection.
We are actively engaging with industry to align the development with specific application-driven challenges. Currently, our focus is on advancing material chemistry and developing a demonstrator showcasing the technology’s potential for real-world use.
